How to ApplyApplications can be submitted beginning in September for the following year. Download an application or call the school to have one sent to you. Submit a completed application to Leila Day. Applications are accepted at any time, but for fall enrollment it is best to apply before the end of December. Each October, we hold an Open House for all families interested in learning more about the programs at Leila Day. The Open House provides an opportunity to speak with teachers and current parents, see classrooms, and learn more about the individual programs, school philosophy, curriculum and other program details. Once your application is received, we will schedule an appointment for parents to tour the school. In early January, a child visit will be scheduled, during which a small group of applicants will visit the classroom and meet the teachers. The purpose of this visit is to help assess whether a good match exists between the child and the program. Decisions regarding enrollment are generally made in February, at which time contracts are mailed to families. Families are expected to make an enrollment decision and return contracts with a deposit within two weeks. Contracts are issued for the 10-month school year, and all enrolled families are offered the option to attend the Summer Program. Since we often receive more applications than available spots in a classroom, we keep an active waitlist. If your child is not offered a place, the application is not carried over to the next year, and you must submit a new application the following fall. Tuition Tuition for the Full Day and After School programs are based on a sliding scale according to family income. We have a fixed number of places at reduced fee levels, which are made possible through outside funding. Qualified families can also receive tuition reduction through the New Haven School Readiness program (New Haven residents only) and/or Care 4 Kids program. Fess in the Morning Program are fixed according to the number of days a child is attending and are not subject to the Leila Day sliding fee scale but may qualify for tuition reduction through the programs mentioned above.
